What is EDAC-ATAC?
EDAC-ATAC is a Canadian organization of professionals in the field of eating disorders and related areas, dedicated to serving the needs of those whose lives are impacted by eating disorders. Our national community is small, our geography huge. Membership to our growing organization provides numerous opportunities for communication and collaboration across our country.
The EDAC-ATAC Board of Directors would like to welcome new members and to thank renewing members for their support of EDAC-ATAC , each and every year. We encourage those involved in the care and research of eating disorders to stand up and be counted amongst peers from across Canada in strengthening this new and first ever Canadian association of eating disorder professionals.
EDAC-ATAC was incorporated in 2018. Joining EDAC-ATAC provides opportunities to connect with clinicians who share your interests and allows you to be a part of a growing organization dedicated to improving care for individuals with eating disorders across Canada.
Membership dues will help support the Board of Directors in working together to establish the groundwork for what we hope will be a vibrant and scholarly association. Our national community is small, our geography huge. EDAC-ATAC needs your help and hopes that you will also consider volunteering some time to help us develop. Let’s join together to make this happen!
EDAC-ATAC is registered as a not for profit organization in the Province of Ontario. Memberships are available for one and two calendar years, and run January-December.
Members who join after November 1st shall have their membership credited to the following year.
Why join EDAC-ATAC?
EDAC-ATAC accomplishments in 2022:
- This year we held our first ever virtual Special Event. This event welcomed two keynote speakers to speak about research and practice in the field of eating disorders, as well as three small interactive group discussions on ARFID treatment; Severe and Enduring Eating Disorders; and “Should we have separate Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder Treatment Programs?” The EDAC-ATAC Special Event had a large turnout and very positive feedback. This was an especially welcomed opportunity to connect with colleagues, given we were not able to have an in-person conference.
- One webinar was hosted this year on How to create a provincial youth council on eating disorders. Webinars hosted by EDAC-ATAC are typically recorded and are available for viewing on our Member’s only section of the EDAC-ATAC website.
- Newsletters/newsflashes were distributed to members this year. Designed as another mechanism to connect our membership, newsletters provide updates from the organization, highlights from research and invited contributions for various areas.
- This is our second year of awarding EDAC-ATAC bursaries. These annual bursaries support EDAC members in their knowledge, professional development, and research in eating disorders. This year, EDAC is supporting research on equity and cultural responsiveness in workplace wellness of healthcare professionals working in a specialized eating disorders program.
- Two EDAC-ATAC Sections each met regularly throughout the year. Please connect if you are interested in joining.
- Nutrition
- Psychotherapists in Private Practice
